About the programme

Come on a journey of transformation to be shaped and equipped for participation in the mission of God.

Our (non-NZQA) Certificate and Diploma in Intercultural Practice provide a unique opportunity for followers of Jesus to journey together with others while being formed for participation in God’s mission, wherever that may be and whatever form it might take.

You will cultivate attentiveness to God and to others, awareness of mission contexts and the ability to relate and serve interculturally. The Mission Track students form a cohort who support each other and are mentored in their mission preparation.

The one-year Certificate and two-year Diploma (commonly referred to as ‘Mission Track’) run alongside biblical and theological NZQA-accredited study, offering a programme of intentional formation that includes:

    • The practice of missional Bible reading
    • Missiological learning
    • Peer engagement
    • Sessions with mission practitioners
    • Mission-related practice
    • Tools to build self awareness
    • Personal mentoring

After successfully meeting all of the requirements you will graduate with the following:

“The Spirit of God is at work in the world in exciting and surprising ways. As his people, we are called to be part of his redemptive action. Mission Track creates a space where we can connect, explore, and grow in ways that equip us to enact that call. Join us as we discern together how to live as people of hope who engage deeply in the world.”

“Mission formation and study at Carey helped me to question, deconstruct and construct at the same time. It’s great to talk with students who are similarly minded and with teachers who have so much wisdom. I’ve really enjoyed hearing the diverse expressions of mission. My sense of what mission is has broadened, helping me to realise that everyone comes with their different journeys. There’s more than one way and that’s beautiful.”
