Emma Stokes

Lecturer – Bible and Mission

PGDipAppTheol, GraddipAppTheol, BCom/BA

Bio

Emma teaches Bible and Mission at Carey and coordinates the formation of students preparing for participation in a variety of mission settings. Previously she has been an adjunct teacher at Carey and Pathways College and brings to the role many years of involvement in mission serving in a variety of capacities in both the local church and parachurch organisations.

Emma’s teaching and research are grounded in her involvement as a partnership facilitator in S.E. Asia for Bright Hope World and through service on the Boards of GC3 and BHW.  She is currently completing a PhD in New Testament at Otago University.

“I am driven by the deep conviction that the gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to transform lives and communities. This not only fuels my own participation in mission, but also the desire to be part of a learning community that ignites that conviction and response in others. It is an absolute joy to be part of the Carey whānau where staff and students seek together to be more fully formed and equipped for participation in the transformative work of God in the world.”
