Bio
Martin trained at the then Baptist Theological College before going on the postgraduate study in historical theology. He taught systematic theology at Carey from 1995-2008, subsequently holding positions at Laidlaw College and the Australian College of Theology. Martin is now a Carey Honorary Research Fellow. His research has largely been in NZ Baptist history and Baptist theological method. Now in pastoral ministry at Avonhead Baptist church in Christchurch he continues to pursue these themes.
“Carey is my academic tūrangawaewae. It represents the committed fusion of research and practice which is increasingly rare in theological education but just as increasingly vital to the church’s role in God’s mission.”
