After 19 years, the class of 2002 reunited for a weekend retreat at the Bowentown baches in March this year. Coming from all over New Zealand, they bonded over good food, beautiful scenery and shared their highs and lows since graduating.

Serving on Waiheke
Pastor Roi Nu Maran graduated from Carey this year with a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Theology. Now Pastoring the Waiheke Island Baptist Church she is thankful for the training Carey has provided enabling her to be robust and to love and lead well.
Expect Great Things from God
Graduands Monique Lee and Sela Havili challenged their fellow classmates at Graduation 2021 in April. “We must see that he is the one who calls us, and he is the one who will tell us the next step. He is the one who has set out the work before us.”
Depression and Young People in our Local Churches
Master of Applied Theology student Cianne Tait is planning out a research project that will explore the experience of depression and anxiety among young people. The goal of the research is to listen to the mental health stories of Christians between the ages of 18 and 30 who live with depression or anxiety and to reflect on these experiences.
The Church Scattered
How we do church has changed significantly since Mike Warring graduated from Carey’s Pastoral Leadership programme in 2006: “A lot of our focus has been on the gathered community and we now need to be resourcing and equipping to be the church scattered.”
Small Town Farming and Theological Study?
Janet farms beef and sheep in Raetihi and her theological training at Carey was a far cry from her daily farming routine. It has enlarged her understanding of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Read more about Janet’s story.
