Evaluation and Review

We work hard at Carey to care for and support our students with integrity and compassion.

We the Tertiary and International Learners Code of Practice to ensure a high standard of education and student support. As part of its commitment to quality, the college also undergoes External Evaluation and Review (EER) conducted by NZQA (New Zealand Qualifications Authority). This process assesses the institution’s performance, ensuring it meets national education standards and continuously improves its programs and services.

The NZ Qualifications Authority (NZQA) undertakes independent reviews of tertiary education organisations in their regular External Evaluation Review process.

In 2024, NZQA awarded Carey a Category 1 Education Provider status.

Since the implementation of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice, Carey has undertaken steps to adhere to NZQA’s requirements.

Grievances and Complaints

We try our best to provide a safe, supportive and positive learning environment for all our students, but sometimes we may get it wrong. What can you do if you have an issue or wish to make a complaint?

Firstly, please refer to the Student Complaints Procedure, which describes the processes around informal and formal processes, and identifies key contact people to whom you can raise your concerns.

As signatories of the Code of Practice, Carey discloses the outcomes of any formal complaints.

To date (October 2025), no formal complaints have been made by students of Carey Baptist College. Any future formal complaints will be logged and outlined on this page.

If you feel your concerns have not been adequately addressed, Ngā Amauramu Tauira provides an independent mediation service. You can find more information about this service here.
