Is Intermission right for you?

Are you a young adult who’s ready to explore how God wants to grow you?

Are you ready to see where saying “yes” to Jesus for one year will lead?

If you’re ready for a year that stretches your thinking, strengthens your faith, and helps you discover how God is shaping you, Intermission could be your next step.

You’ll learn alongside a close-knit cohort of young adults as you explore Scripture, grow in Christian community, and serve with purpose. You’ll build a sound biblical and theological foundation while developing the habits, character, and confidence to follow Jesus wherever he leads.

Journey with Intermission

More than a year of study

A community to learn, reflect, serve and grow.

Intermission isn’t simply a year of study. It’s an invitation to step into a community that will encourage and challenge you as you grow.

Intermission is completed through the NZ Diploma in Christian Studies (see below for programme details), giving you a sound biblical and theological foundation alongside a distinctive year of formation, community and practical experience.

Throughout the year, you’ll join the wider first-year Ministry Leadership Training cohort for weekly formation sessions. These sessions will help you engage with questions of identity, character, spiritual practices, relationships, wellbeing, culture and leadership.

Intermission brings its own distinctive flavour to this shared experience: a space designed specifically for young adults to learn, reflect, serve and grow together.

Three connected areas of learning

ACADEMIC
Build a sound biblical and theological foundation.

Engage deeply with the Bible, theology and Christian thinking through the NZ Diploma in Christian Studies.

You’ll develop your ability to read Scripture, think theologically and engage thoughtfully with the world around you.

FORMATIONAL
Grow into who God is calling you to be.

Develop rhythms and practices that help you grow in your walk with Jesus, understand your gifts, and become the person God is calling you to be.

You’ll explore identity, character, relationships, spiritual practices, wellbeing and leadership.

EXPERIENTIAL
Put faith into action.

Learn through serving others and participating in real ministry experiences.

Much of your practical experience will be based in a local church, alongside BYM Easter Camps, M28 camps and other unique opportunities throughout the year.

What is Intermission Really Like?

It’s about getting equipped for a life of radical discipleship wherever Jesus leads you next.

Intermission gives you the space to ask big questions, grow in community, and explore what it really means to follow Jesus in everyday life.
