Dr Mick Duncan

Adjunct Lecturer

PhD

Bio

Mick lectures at Carey in both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. He has a special focus on New Zealand Society, Leadership, Urban Mission and Cross Cultural Studies. His books include: Move Out, Costly Mission, Who Stands Fast, Wild Ones and Alongsiders. His research Masters explores โ€˜A Theological Ethic of Initiativeโ€™ from the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer and his PhD is titled, โ€œThe Moral Pathway Toward the Stranger in the Life and Thought of John Wesley.”

Mick resides in โ€˜three worldsโ€™. The first is the local church where he has served as a pastor. The second is the world of intentional households and incarnational church planting in slums. He has also established various disciple-making entities like Alongsiders, Red Letters and Carey’s Intermission programme where he still lectures. The third is the world where he is engaged in speaking, lecturing and writing. With academic degrees combined with โ€˜street degreesโ€™ Mick brings discernment, wisdom and practical ministry and mission tools to his speaking and teaching.
