Carey Centre for Lifelong Learning
Sarah Axford administers the Centre for Lifelong Learning and is available to discuss anything to do with the running and functioning of the Centre.
Sarah has experience of working in the health, education and NGO sectors – both at ground and senior management levels. Prior to a career break, to fully enjoy her role as a mum, she was a National Manager for an NGO working with families with children with special needs: a role that involved training and development, project management, supervision, securing government contracts and strategic planning.
Sarah has a passion for children with special needs, or those with emotional challenges and supporting their families to negotiate some of the challenges this can present. At a much less important level she loves coffee, walks on the beach and just enjoying time as a family and with friends.
Sarah is English and came to New Zealand on a work visa with a view to returning to the United Kingdom on completion of this time. However, she met her English husband Nigel during her planned short time in New Zealand. They’ve now been married for 15yrs and are proud parents to their son, Joel (8) a passionate soccer fan – which has proved to be quite contagious! As a family they attend and are involved in Manukau City Baptist church.
