Bio
Denise is involved in the administration, student communication and teaching support of the Ngā Pou Amorangi programme.
Denise’s whakapapa connects her to Māori, Pākehā, Scottish, Irish and English ancestry. She has lived experience in Te Ao Māori and tikanga. Denise has previously served on the Carey Board and is currently both a staff member and a student. Denise has a Bachelor of Education, a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Theology and is currently doing post graduate study. She hopes to complete working towards a Masters in Applied Theology at Carey with a focus upon Christian Community Development. Denise is a member of Urban Neighbours of Hope, a missionary order of the Baptist Union where she and her family choose to live in a neighbourhood of poverty. Māori leadership development and neighbourhood transformation within communities struggling with the issues of poverty are key focuses for her.

Carey is on a bi-cultural hikoi and are willing to be open to cultural challenges and navigate change in order to be biblically relevant to today’s world and people particularly in Aotearoa.”
