Youth Ministry Discovery Internship


What is Youth Ministry Discovery Internship?

The Youth Ministry Discovery Internship is a one year Part-time programme designed to help you gain foundational knowledge and skills for ministry and to help you answer the question whether you are called long-term to vocational youth ministry – all based in your home church!

You’ll get to interact with other interns around the country; as well as having a supervisor, a mentor and receiving input from Carey and Baptist youth ministry Coaches.


Internship Summary – What’s involved?

The Youth Discovery Internship year combines distance learning, block courses, and hands-on experience and centres around:

Serving – Intentional ministry and leadership development in a church context through a minimum of 10 hours’ service per week

Studying – Tertiary level study in Bible, theology, Mission and Ministry of approximately 10 hours per week including participation at block courses and formational learning times throughout the year.

Supporting – Supervision and mentoring by experienced practitioners. Support and feedback through Carey’s Field Education process. Discovery interns also journey with a cohort of other students supporting one another.

  • Your Mentor
  • Baptist Youth Ministries
  • Carey Baptist College Field Education Coordinator and Youth Coach
