Highlights of the Sports Chaplaincy Specialisation
The Sports Chaplaincy specialisation combines in-situ field work placements, tertiary level applied theological study, and supervision and mentoring by experienced practitioners including:
Serving and Practical Ministry – Participating in intentional sports chaplaincy placements in consultation with Sports Chaplaincy New Zealand. Specific hours and requirements will vary depending on individual placements and host organisations.
Studying – Tertiary level study (NZQA level 5) in Bible, Theology and Mission to provide an introduction to core theological and biblical frameworks and themes that apply to the practice of sports chaplaincy and general pastoral care and personal faith journeys.
Supporting – Supervision and mentoring by experienced practitioners, support and feedback through Carey’s well-established educational process, and journeying with others for mutual support and resourcing.
