Mission Stream

Specialisation within the New Zealand Diploma in Christian Studies

Do you want to grow in attentiveness to God, increase your ability to relate to people who are different to yourself, and be better equipped to participate in God’s mission, either here in Aotearoa New Zealand or elsewhere in God’s world?

In this stream you will be rooted in a context of intentional missional practice while you build foundations of Bible & Theology, Mission, and Culture. You will share the journey of learning and formation with other mission-oriented students, with input from experienced mission practitioners and leaders.

Highlights of the Mission Stream

The Mission specialisation combines:

Serving in Mission – Participating in mission in a context that you choose. This can take various forms, but it would normally involve either eight hours per week throughout the year or one or more shorter, more intense periods.

Studying – Tertiary level study in Mission, Bible & Theology, and Culture, along with guided reflection on your mission practice that will help you integrate your learning with your faith, life and practice.

Supporting – Supervision and mentoring by experienced practitioners, support and feedback through Carey’s well-established Field Education process, and journeying with others for mutual support and resourcing.
