Course Descriptions

Introduction to Theology

This course introduces students to the task and method of theology. The factors that form and shape theology will be explored, along with the nature of theological language. The main part of the course will be a study of the theology implicit in the Apostles Creed. Along the way students will be given many opportunities to do theology for themselves.

Gospel and Culture

The purpose of this course is to help people in ministry understand how to relate the Gospel to people from different cultural backgrounds. This is important for our reading of Scripture as biblical authors themselves came from and wrote to people of various worldviews. Other topics that will be covered: what God thinks about culture, understanding the difference between shame and guilt cultures, communicating cross-culturally, how sin and salvation are understood in different cultures.
