“Moses spoke and the voice of God answered him” (Exo 19:19).
This astonishing interaction between God and his servant inspires us for the exhilarating privilege of preaching the Word of God.
As we prepare the sermon, we speak and listen to God. Then, when we preach the sermon our message is, “I have seen the Lord!” By the end of the sermon our hope is people will respond with, “As have we!”
In “Introduction to Preaching” we will explore how to mine the Scriptures, discern its message, and bring the Word of God to bear on world of the listener. We will look at a range of ways to create sermons for a variety of settings.
If you sense the stirring of the Spirit to preach, or want to deepen your call in this ministry, or strengthen and refresh your preaching – “Introduction to Preaching” is for you.
Geoff is the Dean of Studies at the Knox Centre for Ministry and Leadership (Dunedin), where he lectures in preaching, pastoral care and Christian formation.
