The three years at Carey have been so much better than I anticipated. I came to study the Word and equip myself with tools for whatever God had for me next. I have come away with this and so much more. Carey has enabled me to continue to grow and develop as one of God's children. I have learnt the importance of studying the Word and sharing the outworkings of this with others. I have also learnt that theology is not scary but rather essential, interesting and a challenge. Carey has enabled me to see the benefits of viewing cultural issues of today's world, through a biblical and theological lens so that I can be missiological and outwardly focussed in the ministry areas that God leads me into. Carey has encouraged me to think and to be both salt and light in the world.
I am grateful for my 3 years at Carey. My personal highlights have included going through Carey and finishing with a year group of students who I have got to know over the years. I am looking forward to graduating with them and keeping in contact in the future. Friendships have been important not only with the students, but also with the staff, who are friendly, approachable and are genuinely interested in your growth and development in your walk, as a follower of Jesus. The papers that were a real highlight for me were Introduction to Preaching and Christian Spirituality. Tuesday and Wednesday lunches were a highlight for me along with the community worship, After Dinner Mints speakers and games of Volleyball. The community spirit around the college is awesome and makes the library also a fun and interesting place at times.
I would recommend Carey to anyone who is interested without hesitation. I have fond memories of my time at Carey and am looking forward to using the tools that Carey has equipped me with, to serve God in my local community.
