Students can enrol to start their course of study at the beginning or either Semester One or Semester Two, however, the majority of orientation activities happen at the start of Semester One - which is the official start of the New Zealand academic year.

Carey is a non-residential college which means students are responsible for finding their own accommodation and providing for their own living expenses. Many students find rooms in shared flats and houses with other people (often students) in the central Auckland region. The following admission requirements apply for international students
- For students for which English is not their native language, the applicant must provide proof of their ability in the English language. The standard required is Level 6.0 on the IELTS scale. Production of this evidence is the responsibility of the candidate, not Carey and must be completed prior to acceptance.
- The appropriate visas and immigration requirements are the responsibility of the student.
- International students who wish to study towards the Diploma of Applied Theology in Chinese should contact the Director of the Chinese programme for entry details.
- Carey Baptist College will not accept international students under the age of 18.
