Armstrong, Leslie Schofield
1920-2005. In World War Two Armstrong was a Y.M.C.A. officer, serving in India, Vanuatu and Fiji. He then trained for the ministry. Baptist pastorates followed at Taita 1951-55; Bryndwr 1955-61; South Dunedin 1961-76; and Rotorua 1976-85. He was a good communicator with a zeal for evangelism. He was theologically conservative and very committed to teetotalism. He was president of the Baptist Union 1981-1982. Ref.: Obituary: NZB March 2005.
