Thomson , Miss I.J. (Jean)

- bn Tolaga Bay 1914 d. Gisborne 14 June 1997. N.Z.B.M.S. Missionary, India and Bangladesh, 1940-1973. Member of Gisborne. Miss Thomson gained her BA and did her Primary and Secondary Teacher Training at Auckland University, graduating in 1935. After language study in 1940-1941 she taught extensively in mission schools in Brahmanbaria, Agartala and Chandpur. She was, notably, the only N.Z.B.M.S. missionary remaining in Chandpur during the 1971 struggle for independence, and was commended for her courage and Christian witness during this time.
