Blaiklock, Edward Musgrave
1903-1983. He was born in Birmingham, England. The family
migrated to Auckland, New Zealand, in 1909. He became a
committed Christian through the preaching of Rev. Joseph Kemp at
the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle in 1921. Blaiklock became a
lecturer and later Professor in Greek and Latin in what is now the
University of Auckland. A gifted wordsmith, he was official orator of
the university, a widely used lay-preacher and wrote a weekly
newspaper column for over forty years. Strongly conservative in
theology, he wrote numerous books on the New Testament as well
as on other subjects. He served on the College Board and was
President of the Baptist Union in 1970-1971. Ref.: DNZB; NNZ,
