Roberts-Thomson, Edward

Roberts-Thomson, Edward

1909-1987. After Baptist pastorates in Australia he became Principal of N.Z. Baptist Theological College 1953-1960. His principalship was very successful and included a lift in academic standards at the college. His subsequent principalship at Morling Baptist College (Sydney) ended unhappily and Roberts-Thomson later joined the Presbyterian Church in Australia. He preached a theologically liberal sermon at College night at the Baptist Assembly in 1974 while visiting New Zealand, provoking significant controversy. Ref.: Obituary: NZB December 1987.
