Pole, Rev. William

- bn Hasle, Somersetshire 1814 d. Christchurch 26 November 1879. Pastor. Churches: Lincoln Rd 1869-76; regular preacher on Canterbury Assn plan at Sheffield, South Malvern and Greendale. Pole had a Methodist background, as did a number of key leaders in Canterbury. He had been a Primitive Methodist Minister in England before coming to N.Z. and is reputed to have preached his first and last sermons in N.Z. in Methodist Chapels.
