- bn – d. - . Evangelist and Pastor. Evangelist, Canterbury Association 1877. Churches: Invercargill 1877-82; Timaru 1882; Sydenham 1883. Missioner to West Coast 1884-87. Johnston led a brief breakaway from the Invercargill Church in 1881. His journeys on the West Coast were vividly reported in NZB (reprinted NZJBR Vols 6 & 7). The West Coast Mission was not deemed a success by the Union. Johnston appears to have subsequently left N.Z.
