- bn Walham Green, London 1846 d. Dunedin 3 December 1924. Pastor and Denominational Administrator. Trained at Rawdon Baptist College. Churches: (U.K.) Cross Leech St, Staleybridge 1869-74; Harbone, Birmingham 1874-82. (N.Z.) Dunedin/Hanover St 1882-1900; Circular Rd, Calcutta 1900-02; Ponsonby 1902-11; Epsom 1914-17. President Union 1883/4, 1888/9. Secretary Union 1911-1914. Editor NZB 1883-1887. First President N.Z.B.M.S. North was probably the key figure in the early organisation of the Union. He was also crucial to the decision to set up the Missionary Society. Father of Dr Charles North (missionary) and Rev. J.J. North he remains the only N.Z.
